About Susan Marino
Susan is a St. Louis City resident dedicated to the continued revitalization of St. Louis by way of educational reform. As the founding Head of School and Executive Director for LPA, Susan has had the great privilege of collaborating to build a school community to meet the needs of students in St. Louis City. She believes that each child can and will be successful given the appropriate guidance and support. Prior to her involvement with LPA, Susan taught High School Language Arts and served as a leader in a traditional public school for seven years. For five years, Susan also worked with at-risk students in alternative schools designed for expulsions and dropouts from SLPS, Jennings, Hazelwood, and more. Susan was deeply involved in the development and implementation of the alternative schools as a teacher, Director, and Area Supervisor who managed the operation of 7 small schools. She has a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Literature from the University of New Mexico, a Master of Arts Teaching (MAT) from Lindenwood University, and an Educational Specialist (Ed.S) degree in Educational Leadership from Webster University. Susan also serves on the Board of Kingdom House. She enjoys spending time with her family, hiking and traveling.
