LPA teaches children about healthy nutrition and the importance of a balanced meal. As a caring community, we strive to ensure children eat healthy foods that fill their stomachs and help fuel their brains.
LPA contracts with CERES food company to provide hot and cold breakfast and lunch options every day. Children choose from the main dish (healthy food, cleverly disguised as kid-friendly options!), a salad or sandwich. There are always vegetarian and gluten-free choices for kids and adults.
Lunch is a fun time at LPA! Students at all grade levels and teachers eat together in our cafeteria, helping to build a strong community while encouraging kids to try foods they might not otherwise try.
During lunch, our students are guided through mindful eating, where they are encouraged to notice how their food smells, tastes and feels. Students also practice communication skills in a relaxed setting.
Healthy birthday treats and everyday snacks are welcome!
Many students celebrate their birthdays (or half birthdays for summer babies) at our school. Please be sure all birthday treats meet our healthy snack guidelines. This helps limit the amount of sugar kids consume every day, while ensuring we can all celebrate the big day!
At LPA, every day is a great day to bring healthy snacks. Snack times are built into the schedule to ensure students have the fuel to learn throughout the day.
