As the founding Head of School and Executive Director for LPA, Susan has had the great privilege of collaborating to build a school community to meet the needs of students in St. Louis City. She believes that each child can and will be successful given the appropriate guidance and support. Prior to her involvement with LPA, Susan taught High School Language Arts. For five years, Susan also worked as a school leader in alternative schools designed for at-risk students from SLPS, Jennings and Hazelwood. Susan was a leader in the development and administration of the alternative schools as a teacher, Director, and Area Supervisor who managed the operation of 7 small schools. She has a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Literature from the University of New Mexico, a Master of Arts Teaching (MAT) from Lindenwood University, and an Educational Specialist (Ed.S) degree in Educational Leadership from Webster University. She is pursuing her Doctorate in School Leadership from the University of Missouri- St. Louis. Susan enjoys spending time with her family, reading/learning, hiking and traveling.
